Anatoly Smeliansky
PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND RUSSIAN THEATER HISTORY
Russia's foremost biographer of Stanislavsky and a leading Russian Theater writer, scholar and critic, Dr. Smeliansky is the Associate Artistic Director of the Moscow Art Theatre and the Head of the Moscow Art Theatre School. He is Editor-in-Chief of Complete Works by Stanislavsky and The Moscow Art Theatre: 100 Years. His books include Is Comrade Bulgakov Dead? and Russian Theater after Stalin, published by Cambridge University Press. Dr. Smeliansky has lectured on Russian Theater in the United States at Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, Harvard, Princeton and Yale, as well as at the Sorbonne in France and Cambridge and Oxford in England. He is the Associate Director of Harvard University's IATT.
Larisa Dmitrieva
DANCE
Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre. Graduated from the Moscow Choreographic College at the Bolshoi Theatre. A leading member of the faculty of the Moscow Art Theatre School, teaching dance disciplines including rhythm, historical, classical, folk, and dances of different nations.
Andrei Droznin
STAGE MOVEMENT
Head of Movement for the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. A founding member of the Tabakov Studio in Moscow and the Stanislavsky Summer School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His unique system of training, which combines Meyerhold's Biomechanics and Stanislavsky's Method, has become an essential part of theatre training programs throughout the world. Recipient of the title Distinguished Artsmaker of Russia in 1998.
Elena Lesina
RUSSIAN LANGUAGE
Faculty of the Moscow Art Theatre School since 2001 teaching Russian languages to the foreign students.
Mikhail Lobanov
ACTING
Professor, Moscow Art Theatre School, his class focuses on technique aimed at awakening the actor's imagination, emotional memory and stage awareness. Combines Stanislavsky System with Michael Chekhov research. Oleg Schentzis Design Chair of the production Department at the Moscow Art Theatre School, he is the Chief Set Designer for the Lenkom Theatre, and a leading designer in Russia and Europe.
Marina Smirnova
SINGING
Faculty member at Moscow Art Theatre School, leading teacher of voice and singing for more than 20 years.
Sergei Zemstov
ACTING
Dean of the Acting Department, Moscow Art Theatre School. Has taught acting in Paris at Ecole du Passage. Graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School, 1983 and has performed throughout Russia.
